 SOUTHEAST UTAH - RUINS, ROCK ART, AND RAFTING

 Wednesday, October 1 – Sunday, October 5, 2008

On this unique adventure, we’ll head north for a stop at Rock Art Ranch/Chevelon Canyon, possibly the largest petroglyph site in Arizona. Then it’s on to charming Bluff, Utah along the banks of the San Juan River. We will bunk at  rustic Recapture Lodge that features a cash continental breakfast each morning and slide show by a local expert each evening. On day trips from Bluff, we will visit Canyonlands, Natural Bridges, and Hovenweep National Monuments, Valley of the Gods, the Mokey Dugway, the San Juan River goosenecks, Newspaper Rock, and the Sand Island rock art site. We’ll also see several museums in Blanding, UT, including the Anasazi Trading Post and Museum that houses one of the most extensive collections of Anasazi artifacts in existence. And the pièce de résistance on Friday. an all-day raft trip (35 miles) on the San Juan River with Wild Rivers Expeditions to see remote cliff dwellings and rock art. The return trip will be through spectacular Monument Valley with a stop at the historic Cameron Trading Post. It will be necessary to do some short walks/hikes to get to some of these sites; participants can walk/hike as much or as little as they wish. Daytime temperatures will be in the 70’s, early morning in the 40’s. Tour departs on Wednesday at 6:30 AM from Tucson International Airport Park & Save Remote Parking Lot at S. Tucson Boulevard and E. Corona Road (where vehicles can be safely parked for $4 per day). Return to same location by 6:30 PM on Sunday. Tour fee includes transportation by van, lodging, all entrance fees, and one-day raft trip, and first night’s dinner at Decker House. Limited to 8 participants. Guide and Top Tyranno: Stephen H. FEE POLICY: Full payment is due on registration (or when requested). To register, send check (payable to Stephen H. Buck) to Stephen H. Buck, P.O. Box 64986, Tucson, AZ 85728-4986. Your check will not be deposited until it is certain that the tour is a GO. If the tour does not go, your uncashed check will be returned to you. Your check is your receipt for payment. If you cancel out 30 days or more before the tour, you will be charged a $100 administrative fee. If you cancel out less than 30 days before the tour, you will forfeit 50% of the full tour fee or $100 (whichever is greater) unless we can find a replacement. If we find such replacement, you will receive a 100% refund. You will receive a 100% fee refund if the tour is cancelled by TyrannoTours.
